Truth: PR vs. Journalism

One of the major differences between PR and journalism is that in PR, a lot of your writing is debated in committee. Words, phrases and meanings are debated, sanitized, “branded” and beaten.

At best, you work to make the ambiguous less so.

It’s frustrating when the ambiguous is made more so at levels above your paygrade.

If it makes you feel better, Journalists are the most wildly lazy people on Earth who will quote everything you throw at them to take up space.

“One of the differences between PR and journalism is that one is PR and the other is journalism,” said the PR guy and former journalist who runs the Tumblr blog Inothernews.

EVERYTHING RELATED TO JOURNALISM TODAY HAS BEEN WILDLY OFFENSIVE TO MY SENSIBILITIES. Just fucking respect the work people do. God.
